University & Industry Collaboration
KJ Cultura facilitates structured collaboration between higher education institutions and industry partners — integrating practical experience into academic curricula, and bringing research and educational resources into organizational and public settings.
Our approach draws on the principle of the unity of knowledge and action (zhī xíng hé yī) — that genuine learning is achieved through doing, and that practice refines understanding. We design collaborations that serve both educational quality and industry relevance, building institutional capacity on both sides. This work also engages with cultural resources — supporting universities and enterprises in excavating and reconstructing local cultural knowledge for content creation, media strategy, and commercial innovation, and integrating cross-cultural competence into industry-oriented education.
Practice-Oriented Curriculum Design for Universities.
We design practice-oriented curricula for universities, integrating industry experience and mentors to move courses from knowledge transmission to competency construction in real settings. This work is delivered through a co-creation studio model in which student teams work on real industry projects with industry mentor guidance.
The studios span domains including glocal content development and commercialization — covering glocal narrative and content creation, cultural resource excavation and reconstruction, empirical research methods in the humanities and social sciences, and media strategy with industry implementation. Our approach resonates with Chinese traditions that have long insisted on the unity of knowledge and action (zhī xíng hé yī) and learning for practical use (jīng shì zhì yòng).
We work with university faculty to assess gaps between curriculum objectives and industry needs, design courses that enable students to learn through real projects, introduce industry mentors — a contemporary iteration of the master-apprentice tradition (shī tú zhì) — and establish mechanisms for continuous curriculum iteration.
- Curriculum system diagnosis (gap analysis between existing courses and industry needs)
- Co-creation studio model design and implementation
- Practice-oriented curriculum module design (project-based, real case, industry-embedded courses)
- Glocal content development and commercialization studios (narrative creation, cultural resource reconstruction, empirical research, media strategy)
- Industry mentor recruitment and integration
- Real project integration (enterprise needs as student curriculum projects)
- Curriculum evaluation and continuous iteration
Public Service and Continuing Education.
KJ Cultura provides public courses, short-term training, and lifelong learning services that make university and research knowledge accessible to the public. Programs include digital skills training, cultural content creation workshops, parent education, and professional development for working professionals.
We believe knowledge should not be confined to campuses or academic papers — a principle with deep roots in the Chinese tradition of learning for practical use (jīng shì zhì yòng), which held that scholarship should serve society and address real-world needs. We translate specialized knowledge into forms that ordinary people can understand and use, and we collaborate with universities, communities, and enterprises to design and deliver high-quality, relevant public learning programs.
- Public lecture series (themed talks and course series for the public)
- Short-term training programs (concentrated skills and competency training)
- Digital skills training and cultural content creation workshops
- Community learning programs (place-based learning in partnership with communities)
- Online learning resources (offline courses converted to accessible online content)
- Continuing education program design for universities and institutions
Enterprise R&D Linkage.
We connect enterprise research and development needs with university research capacity, facilitating structured R&D collaborations that address practical industry challenges while advancing knowledge. Our team supports the full collaboration lifecycle — from problem framing and partner matching, through joint project design and implementation, to knowledge transfer and outcomes dissemination.
We work with enterprises in sectors including cultural and creative industries, digital media, education technology, and social services — fields where the integration of humanistic inquiry, social science research, and industry practice generates particular value. The goal is not only to solve immediate problems but to build the institutional arrangements that enable ongoing innovation at the interface of research and industry.
- Industry problem framing and research needs assessment
- University-industry R&D partner matching
- Joint research project design and management
- Knowledge transfer and commercialization support
- Joint laboratory and research center establishment
- Knowledge transfer and commercialization support
Principles of collaboration.
Industry-education collaboration succeeds only when both sides contribute real resources and derive real value. We do not believe in ceremonial partnerships in which industry advisors review externally designed curricula or students complete internships without structured learning objectives.
Every KJ Cultura-facilitated collaboration is built on joint problem definition, integrated resource commitment, and shared accountability for outcomes. We design institutional arrangements — co-creation studios, joint labs, curriculum committees with decision-making authority — that make collaboration structurally real rather than symbolically present.
And we build pathways for validated collaboration models to spread — across departments, across institutions, and into policy frameworks that support sustained industry-education collaboration.
Explore collaboration.
Whether you are a university seeking to deepen industry engagement, an enterprise seeking structured access to research capacity, or a public institution seeking to expand continuing education, we welcome the opportunity to understand your context and explore potential collaboration.
